There’s a hypothetical question people sometimes ask.
If you could travel back in time and say just three words to your past self, what would you say?
For a long time I didn’t have an answer. But, that’s changed.
Not only do I know exactly what three words I would share with my former self.
I frequently repeat those three words to my current self.
The three words are the keys to school leadership success. And, frankly, to life success.
The three words are: Clarity . . . Focus . . . Purpose.
They’re the fundamentals upon which we build schools we love.
They’re the fundamentals upon which we build lives we love.
Here’s what I mean.
Clarity is your “what”. It’s your vision. It’s the opposite of confusion.
Focus is your “how”. It’s your implementation. It’s the opposite of overwhelm.
Purpose is your “why”. It’s your values. It’s the opposite of resistance.
Grounding yourself in clarity, focus, and purpose, while being alert to confusion, overwhelm and resistance is the most effective path to school leadership success.
